Every year, the Utrecht Excellence Scholarship offers several intelligent and talented prospective students from non EEA|EU countries the chance to enroll for a degree in certain number of courses at the Utrecht University in the Netherlands.
ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP
The Utrecht Excellence Scholarship was established by Utrecht University. Finance for the scholarship comes from the Utrecht Excellence Scholarship Fund as well as contributions from Utrecht University alumni.
About 55 scholarships are awarded every year for undergraduate and graduate programs respectively. The scholarships are awarded for the duration of the programs which for a bachelor’s degree is a maximum of three years and two years for a master’s degree.
A major benefit of the scholarship is that successful students will be awarded maximum tuition fee along with 11,000 pounds to cover living expenses per year. Students though should note that this should not be considered as a full scholarship as they may need to provide more funding to completely take care of their study and stay.
Scholarships will only be renewed for the second or third year as the case may be if students show remarkable progress while pursing the degree.
ELIGIBILITY
Considering the scholarship is highly competitive, only candidates having the best purpose and prospect may be given the scholarship. Applicants should meet the following requirements
Should not be a EU|EEA or Dutch National
Should have a non-Dutch secondary school diploma
Should have been admitted to an International master’s program in one of the graduate schools such as the bachelors program in Economics and Business Economics or the University College Utrecht
Should have a secondary school diploma to enroll for a bachelor’s degree or have a bachelor’s degree for a master’s degree
Candidates will be selected based on academic performance and prospects, quality of previous education and recommendation letters, quality of motivational letter, quality of financial plan in the application and the quality of the application itself.
To be granted a residence permit applicants from abroad must show the Immigration and Naturalisation office that they are okay financially

It should be noted that master’s programmes that are not state funded are not eligible

APPLICATION DEADLINE
For Bachelor’s degree students in Economics and Business Economics the deadline is April 1 while Master’s student’s deadline is December 1 every year.
