The University of Reading is a public university which was established in 1892 as a satellite college of Christ Church, Oxford. In 1926 it received the right to grant its own degrees by Royal Charter from King George V, and was the only university to have received such a charter between the spaces of two world wars. The university has four main campuses situated in Whiteknights, Greenlands, London Road, and her new campus in Malaysia.
According to the world university ranking of 2017, University of Reading is ranked as the 175th best university in the QS world rankings for 2017. Her research work is labelled as’internationally recognised’ by 98%, ‘internationally excellent by 78% and as ‘world leading by 27% according to the 2014 Research Excellence Framework.Her Social Sciences and Law departments was awarded four times the biannual Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education, becoming the first university in history to win a Queen’s Award for Export Achievement. The university school of Agriculture Policy and Development was however ranked top in the UK and 11th in the world, according to the QS classification of universities 2014.
The tuition fees are reviewed annually and may be revised for the new cohort of students.

At reading university, applicants should possess A level and International Baccalaureate requirements. However, many other qualifications like GCSE, Cambridge Pre-U, Scottish Framework Qualifications, Irish Leaving Certificates, European Baccalaureate (EB), Welsh Baccalaureate (WB), BTEC National Diplomas, and Access to HE Diploma are also accepted
- MA- Applicant must possess at least a 2:2 in a relevant degree. Subject requirements vary depending on the course. Some courses however, require a degree in a science related subject, while others have more flexible requirements. Industry experience may also be required for certain courses.
- PhD- Applicant must possess at leasta 2:1 in a relevant degree. However, other equivalent qualifications may be considered, although many courses also require a master’s degree. Applicant will also be expected to submit a research proposal detailing the scope of your study
Admission for international students;
Reading university accepts a wide range of overseas qualifications including the Malaysian STPM, Hong Kong A levels and Diploma of Secondary Education, Advanced Diplomas, Singapore A levels and Brunei A levels. Applicants must meet the English language levels generally required for undergraduate courses. Acceptable tests are; Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), University of Reading pre-sessional course report, including TEEP), Test of English for Educational purposes (TEEP), Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English(Cambridge CPE), Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English(Cambridge CAE). Applicant must have a total of at least 7.0 in any of each both in oral and writing aspects.
Applicants can apply online for courses via the national admissions service, UCAS. If you wish you can choose to apply for up to five courses in total, including more than one course.
UK or EU students:
If you wish to apply for admission in September 2018, you should aim to apply between 1 September 2017 and 15 January 2018. It should however be noted that If you have missed this deadline, you are still welcome to apply, but you should be aware that some courses may be full by this point.
If you wish to apply for admission in September 2018, you are welcome to apply between 1 September 2017 and 30 June 2018. However, applying before 15 January is encouraged as courses may be full after that point.
