The University of Liverpool is a public university founded as a college in 1881. It is based in the city of Liverpool, England. In 1903, it gained its royal charter to award degrees. University of Liverpool is also known to be one of the six original red brick civic universities.
Apart from comprising three faculties which are divided into 35 departments, University of Liverpool is a founding member of the Russell group, the N8 group for research collaboration. Also its University Management school is AACSB accredited.
Based on nine measures, the University of Liverpool was ranked 31st out of 124 while The Times Good University Guide 2008 ranked Liverpool 34th out of 113 universities. The Sunday Times university guide recently ranked the University of Liverpool 27th out of 123 in 2010; also, the Sunday Times has ranked University of Liverpool 29th of 122 institutions nationwide. In 2008 the QS World University Ranking rated University of Liverpool 99th best in the world, and 137th best worldwide in 2009.
Recently in 2016 Liverpool was ranked 122nd in the world (and 15th in the UK) in the Round University Ranking.
The University of Liverpool offers a variety of courses in their undergraduate and graduate schools, including the professional coursework for Master’s, online Master’s, graduate diplomas and doctoral programs in a vast amount of disciplines.
Applicants applying for undergraduate programs must show some good general education, like acceptable levels of literacy and numeracy, normally equivalent to at least grade C at GCSE in English and Mathematics. Individual programs that have additional requirements can be seen on their online course pages.
Students whose native language is not English must show evidence of proficiency in English to a standard equivalent of average academic level 7 of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), with no component lower than 7.
Applicants must possess the following:

Admission for International Students
To apply for full time studies, the applicant would have to apply to Citizenship and Immigration of England in their country for a study permit. After applying online at the school’s admission portal, candidates must secure a signed transcript from their post- secondary institution showing academic standing and awarded degree.
If your first language isn’t English, your most recent 4years of education must have been taught in English. Also, you may need to show an English proficiency test score.
Acceptable tests are the following:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
- Pearson Test of English (PTE)
- English for Academic Success (EFAS)
Applicant must have a total of at least 65% in any of each both in oral and writing aspects.

Other Basic Requirements
University of Liverpool accepts a wide range of UK and international qualifications, even though many of the school leaving applicants apply with A/AS-levels.
A/AS levels: A large proportion of our school leaving applicants from England, Wales and Northern Ireland apply with four or more AS-levels that they have studied in year 12, with three or four of these taken to A-level in year 13. They accept both GCE A/AS-levels and A/AS-levels in Applied Subjects. They normally ask for at least two subjects to have been studied to full A-level, which means that it may be acceptable in some departments to take an additional AS-level in year 13 and apply with two A-levels and two AS-levels.
Other UK Qualifications
A wide range of UK qualifications includes Scottish Higher/Advanced Higher, 14 to 19 Advanced Diplomas, International Baccalaureate, Welsh Baccalaureate, BTEC Awards, AQA Baccalaureate, Cambridge Pre-U and Access to Higher Education Diploma.
The University of Liverpool considers a variety of qualifications and they usually express their entrance requirements in terms of A levels. NARIC Certificates must be sent to [email protected], showing evidence of equivalency to 5 GCSEs at Grade B or Grade C, as outlined in the entry criteria.
The University admits students on the basis of individual merit and does not discriminate on grounds of age. However, special arrangements are in place for students who will be under the age of 18 on arrival at the University. If you are under 18 when you are applying, you will be asked to submit application via UCAS by 31 May of the year in which you intend to study (i.e. 31 May 2017 for entry in September 2017), so that the University can ensure all the appropriate checks have been carried out in advance of your arrival.

If you wish to be admitted to the October – December term, you have to apply online from December and latest by May for students within England, while others have an application deadline for April.
To be admitted into the January—April term, you have to apply online from anytime from June till the deadline which is October.
It should however be noted that deadline for application for some courses might be prolonged if there are available spaces.
