The Faculty of Science of the University of Geneva in Switzerland in conjunction with various sponsors has set up an Excellence Fellowship Program to aid candidates who are outstanding in pursuing a Master of Science in any of the courses offered by the faculty.
ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP
The Faculty of Science of the University of Geneva in Switzerland is a worldwide highly rated scientific institution that covers a wide range of scientific programs.
The number of awards to be given has not been stated but it will be awarded for one year. This could be extended for the normal period of the Master program chosen by the candidate that usually takes three or four semesters to complete. This will be done once applicants have shown great academic progress at the end of their first semester studies.
The scholarship program which is open to all citizens does come with a benefit which is a grant of CHF 10,000 to CHF 15.000 for a year with no teaching duties.
Applicants interested in the program will have to meet and fulfill the following requirements:
- The fellowship program is open to students from any university provided they very good grades in their studies and should be among the best 10% in their bachelor degree class
- Should have completed their bachelor degree or will complete it within six months
- Applicants will be selected on their academic excellence which will be based on the documents they put in when applying
- Being proficient in French is not a formal requirement for the fellowship program
FIELD OF STUDY
The scholarship is for Masters of Science program in Environmental Sciences, Computer Sciences, Mathematics, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Physics, Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry and Earth Sciences.
HOW TO APPLY
The application which is done in French or English comprises of the following:
Downloading an application form from the website
Applicants should include Curriculum Vitae along with transcripts of exams passed during bachelor degree program with results
Applicants should write a two page essay detailing their scientific interests, the Master’s program they want to enroll for and what motivated them to make the decision
If possible, applicants should get two letters of references of from two professors stating if the candidates have the requirements for the program
Any other information applicants feel is necessary like language test e.g TOEFL or General requirement examination (GRE) can be included
Applicants should submit their forms in pdf formats to the Dean’s office
