Postgraduate study at Swansea University

1. Current students applying for taught programmes
If you are a current Swansea undergraduate applying for a taught postgraduate programme and are on-track to obtain an Upper Second Class honours (2.1) or above, you will be invited to apply via the University’s fast-track application system. Invitations to apply will be sent to Swansea email accounts in January and April. A further reminder will be sent after results are known in July. As we already hold information on your academic performance you don’t have to provide academic references or transcripts of your marks to date. You will be asked to complete a short application form and you will normally receive a decision from us within two working days.
2. Online Application
Please read our Guidance Notes before applying online. Online application is the quickest way to apply and receive a decision on your application. We regret that the On-track system is not currently available in Welsh, but we are working on this. English Language Entry Requirements
You will be expected to show a good level of English for entry into the UK and for our courses. English language requirements are stated on the individual course pages. In most cases we require an IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent) for undergraduate courses and IELTS 6.5 (or equivalent) for postgraduate entry.
Swansea University also recognises a range of English language tests and qualifications which are also recognised by the UK Home Office as Secure English language tests (SELTS).
Pathway courses for students who do not meet minimum entry requirements
If you do not meet the minimum requirements for direct entry to the first year of a degree scheme, you can be considered for entry into a four year integrated degree scheme, or alternatively a foundation or pre-masters programme via The College, which offers a range undergraduate and postgraduate pathways leading to a degree award from Swansea University.

Living Expenses in Swansea
The cost of living in Swansea is relatively low compared to many other cities in the UK. However it is still vital that any potential student prepares their finances before they attend University.
Estimated fee: On average students studying at Swansea will spend between £6000 and £9000 (over 40 weeks) on living costs. The examples given below are averaged out to give costs somewhere in the middle of this estimate. The level of these costs depends heavily on lifestyle and will vary from individuals.
For visa application purposes, applicants have to show they have £9135 (as a minimum balance for at least 28 days). This amount is correct as at January 2016.
