HOW TO APPLY
The universities in Greece offers both Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in different courses. And each university has its particular method of application but below are some of the general methods of application that applies to most of these universities;
- Applicants must submit all application through the Hellenic ministry of national education and religious affairs (for undergraduate studies)
- The following documents are needed for application;
- Original graduation certification
- Certificate from diplomatic authority in the home country of eligibility to higher studies.
- Certificate of origin (parents and applicant)
- Visa or stay permit
- Candidates who are applying for postgraduate courses should send their application directly to their institution of choice.
- Along with the application, the candidate should send proof of successful completion of secondary education in their home country.
- Since most of the courses offered in Greece are in the Greek language, the applicant must show proof of proficiency in Greek.
For doctoral programs, applicants must hold a postgraduate degree in the relevant field.
For private institutions that offer courses in English, they also require proof of proficiency in English and standardised tests such as IELTS or TOEFL is required.
For an international student from non-EU countries, a type-D visa is needed from a Greek consulate and this can be easier and cheaper if the visa is requested for the applicant by the institution. Documents required for obtaining visa include; passport, sponsorship affidavit, proof of funds, medical and police report, clearance certificate, academic transcript, language certificate, and document from the institution of choice in Greece.
When to apply undergraduate and post-graduate
The enrollment period in Greek universities starts from early July to the third week in July. The online platform for application will be available during this time. The duration of study in Greece is four years for most undergraduate programmes and six years for medicine.
