The International Merit Scholarship is being offered by The Iowa State University in USA for fresh and transfer undergraduate students. The school provides students with a lot of opportunities and has high class facilities along with modern technology which has seen the schoolserve as a home to about 4000 students from more than 100 countries.
ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship is awarded to students who have shown excellent academic achievement with strong skills set and talent in one or several eligible courses.
The number of scholarships to be awarded has not been stated but will be offered every year. Fresh students who are awarded the scholarship will be financed for a maximum period of eight semesters or till they complete their degree, depending on which is done first.
Transfer students who are awarded the scholarships will be financed for a maximum period of five semesters or till they complete their degree, depending on which is done first.
Successful applicants both fresh and transfer students will have some benefits from the scholarship which are two International Merit Scholarship levels. They are Gold: $8,000 which is renewable annually and Cardinal: $4,000 which is renewable annually.
FIELD OF STUDY
The scholarship is awarded for undergraduate courses available at the university in following areas, the arts, math and sciences, leadership, innovation, extracurricular activities, community service or entrepreneurship.
International new student applicants and international transfer applicants with less than 66 transferrable semester credits
Should have a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.0 out of 4.0 scale
A CV or resume with all your achievements listed
A letter of recommendation
SAT is not needed but will be considered if submitted
A 500-word essay should be written introducing yourself to the committee to help them know more about you and stating why you should be given the scholarship as well as answering one of the questions in the scholarship application form
Applicants should be international students who have completed an international application for admission
To maintain the scholarship, the following requirements should be fulfilled
At least a cumulative GPA of 2.0 while studying at Iowa State
Should continue enrolling in a minimum of 12 semester credits every semester not including summers
The award should only be used for undergraduate tuition and fees
