Universities in Germany now are operating tuition free. And as a student, you are only concerned about your living expenses which is estimated at 600 euros per month. Yes, this amount will cover the cost of accommodation, feeding, books, travels etc for one month. Today, I’m going to talk about studying in Germany, cost of living, admission procedure, visa requirement and how to apply. I will also post a list of twenty top universities in Germany so you can contact them directly and get more information.
Germany has over a 300 universities offering courses in the fields of Engineering, medicine, law, humanities, to mention but a few. The language of instruction is German and English. Infact, almost all undergraduate programs are taught in German language and very few are available in English language. Postgraduate courses are all taught in English language. At this point, you may like to know the requirements to study in Germany at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Undergraduate study requirement
To study at the undergraduate level, one will be expected to posses the following:
- Ø O’level result and transcripts showing grades
- Ø An international passport which is still valid
- Ø A birth certificate
- Ø A medical certificate showing the health condition of the applicant
Postgraduate study requirement
To study at the postgraduate level, one will be expected to posses the following:
- Ø A degree result and transcript showing all the courses offered by the students with grades
- Ø A valid International passport
- Ø A birth certificate
- Ø A medical certificate showing the health condition of the applicant
- Ø Two reference letters
- Ø A research work and or a statement of purpose
Once you have all these documents ready, the next step is to search for universities offering your program. The search engine can be very useful at this stage as you can use it to search for universities in Germany their programs and get information on how to apply. When you have found the university of your choice, simply go through their website and request for application materials if you cannot apply online. You could do this by either calling or sending the admission unit mails.
Application procedure
German universities accept paper based and online application. For the paper application, you will need to photocopy and notarize all your documents and send them together with the application form you downloaded to the university admission unit. The online application involves creating an account on the university website, filling in your information and submitting. Universities generally prefer the online application as it is the easiest way to apply and receive an offer.
Visa processing
After you have sent your application, the school will send you an invitation letter. This is the letter you need to apply for a student visa. Go to any German embassy in your home country with this letter together with other documents like health certificate, results, international passport, passport photographs etc. You will be told when to come for the interview.
Note that you will be expected to open a German blocked account of 8000 euros before you get your visa. But never worry as you will be guided on how to go about it there in the embassy.

Hi Debola, thanks for your comment. In europe there are universities with no tuition like Germany, Finland and Norway and others with tuition ranging from 1,000 to 10,000 euro. Cost of living ranges from 200 to 700 euro per month depending on the country. So everything depends on the country you choose to study.

Hi Abdullah, yes your daughter can study medicine with her Edexcel ICGSE O’ Level result, but she will study in German language as medical programs in German universities are taught in German. What this means is that she will need to enroll for a German language training program in her home country, write the exams before applying to study medicine in Germany.
Thanks

Hello,
I am a great enthusiast to study in Germany, in particular at the ESB Business school, Reutlingen University, HTW-Berlin and also at the Berlin school of economics and law (HWR-Berlin) to complete my bachelors program with International Business. I have successfully completed my O levels examination from the Cambridge International board of examinations ,which is an international examination board under the Cambridge University the UK,with six subjects : (English, Bengali and Biology: A, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry:B) and have recently completed my International Advanced level from the Edexcel Pearson board, UK, with two subjects: Business Studies (grade:B) and Economics (grade:D). Furthermore, as I have always been intrigued by the great German culture and education, I opted to choose German language, and have completed till level B1. In addition to this I have also completed my IELTS, with a sound band score of 7.0. On top of this, I have also acquired a few ECAs, namely a volunteering activity in the Project-Be Foundation where I marketed an app basically designed to find missing peole. Furthermore, I have acquired Job experience from a shipping company where I worked at the documentation department and I also served as an Intern in an animation company here in Bangladesh where I worked at the Corporate client servicing department. Do you think the qualifications mentioned above are sufficient to meet the requirements for the Bachalor’s program in International Business in those Universities? Thanks in advance.
Yours sincerely,
Ibrahim Khalilullah.

Good morning house, I’m new here after following this page for like 8 days or so.
I’m a fresh sociology graduate 2015 precisely and I want to apply to a German school that will hasten my admission. I heard most tuition there are free and there are opportunities there. Please kindly enlighten me about the school I could get rapid admission from and presumably it could be schools with lower rank and do I need a proof of English language.
I’m with a CGPA of 3.53 in sociology and graduated 2015. Wanna go for masters though.
Ur kind and hasten reply would help a brother.
Best Regards.
