Accredited US Universities and Academic Institutions are offering Fulbright Foreign Student Scholarship Programs for Masters, PhD and non-degree postgraduate studies.
ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship program allows students who have graduated, young professionals as well as artists from abroad to study and conduct research in the United States. Study and research done during the program are for one or more years at accredited US universities and academic institutions.
The scholarship is offered every year. The number of scholarships to be awarded differs from country to country but about 4000 foreign students are awarded the Fulbright scholarship every year.
Study and research or non-degree program are usually for one year. The Fulbright scholarship comes with the following benefits:
Funding of tuition
Textbooks
Air ticket
Stipend will be given as leaving allowance
Health insurance
FIELD OF STUDY
The Fulbright scholarship program invites and accepts applications from eligible students. The Fulbright scholarship program encourages candidates from all areas of education including interdisciplinary courses except those from clinical medical research or medical degree program.
The Fulbright scholarship is meant for Masters or PhD degree and can also be awarded for non-degree postgraduate studies available at accredited US universities and academic institutions.
ELIGIBILITY
The Fulbright Foreign Student Program is open to citizens of more than 155 countries all over the world including countries in Africa, North Africa, Europe and Eurasia, The Americas Middle East, East Asia and Pacific and South and Central Asia
To be eligible for the Fulbright Foreign Student Program, interested candidates should ensure they meet the following requirements:
Applicants should have completed undergraduate education
Applicants should have obtained a bachelor’s degree or obtained its equivalent
It is worth pointing out that selection and eligibility procedures are different from country to country. Applicants should therefore get information on countries specific website to know more about specific requirements in their home country.
HOW TO APPLY
Interested students are to apply through the Fulbright Commission/Foundation or US embassy in their home countries. This is because all applications for the scholarship are processed by bi-national Fulbright Commissions/Foundations or U.S. Embassies. APPLICATION DEADLINE
Deadline for application varies among countries but generally it is usually between February and May
NOTE: The Institute of International Education (IIE) takes care of academic placement for most Fulbright nominees and monitors participants during their time in the US
