The Government of Ireland awards post graduate scholarship for scholars from any country each year. Scholarship is awarded to candidates who are qualified Doctoral and Research master’s who intend to pursue or are pursuing full time research in any discipline, based in an Irish HEI. The type of degree pursued and the date of first registration determines the duration of funding.
ABOUT SCHOLARSHIP
The Irish Research Council has opened the Enterprise Partnership Scholarship Scheme and 2015 call for the Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme( including strategic partner scholarships). The Council helps by funding researchers who excel across all disciplines as well as assist researchers in developing their career by funding them at an early stage of their research career, to help them associate with research teams that have been established and have got recognition for their work internationally. An expert driven research system is supported by the Council in order to enhance Ireland’s innovation capacity and skill base in a ever changing World environment where knowledge is important to social, economic and cultural development.
The scholarship covers the following
The total value of the Government of Ireland Enterprise Partnership Scheme, Postgraduate Scholarship and all strategic funding partner scholarships, will be a maximum of 24000 pounds and will include the following
16000 pounds maintenance award per annum within the funding team as well as contribution to fees which include non EU scholarship fees of a maximum of 5750 paid to HEI. Also the maximum that can be spent in any year of the scholarship is 24000 pounds plus any balance of eligible direct research expenses carried over from the previous year of scholarship that is unspent. Apart from this exception, funds may not be carried from one year to another.
ELIGIBILITY
Scholars must meet the following requirements
Scholars must be full time students affiliated with an eligible HEI in Ireland.
Must not be a permanent member of staff or in an HEI or in a non-Irish based research body or HEI.
Must have a first class or upper second class honours primary degree or its equivalent.
Must be resident in Ireland during the duration of the scholarship.
