ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarships are meant for students from participating developing countries to enroll for undergraduate or postgraduate programs at participating Australian Universities and Technical and further education (TAFE) institutions.
The scholarship was created to help train students and help them harness their skills and development to help them contribute to the growth of their home country.
The duration of the award will last for the period of the programs
The scholarships are specified and meant for students from the following participating countries:
Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia
Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burma Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Timor-Leste, Vietnam.), Pacific (Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, French Pacific Collectivities (New Caledonia, French Polynesia, and Wallis and Futuna), Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu
Middle East countries and Palestine areas can also apply for the scholarship awards.
The scholarship has the following benefits
Payment of tuition fees
Return air ticket
A one off payment of $5000 to help with expenses such as accommodation, text books among others.
A program will be taught for some weeks before the start of studies to provide information on life and study in Australia
Medical health insurance for the duration of the program
Interested applicants who are willing to take up the scholarship award will have to sign a contract with the Commonwealth of Australia stating that they will adhere to all conditions of the scholarship.
Successful applicants will have to leave Australia for at least two years once they are done with their programs, if this is not done applicants will be responsible for the cost of the scholarship.
