Public schools in Norway are all operating tuition free education. This means that students are completely exempted from paying tuition fees. As a student, you’re concerned with the living expense which is put at 1000 Euro per month. Cost of living in Norway
The cost of living in Norway is a little bit high and estimated at 1000 Euro per month. This amount covers the cost of food, books, travels, and clothing for one month. A student will need to show proof that he/she has sufficient amount of money to cover his/her living expenses for a minimum of one year. A bank account statement showing a minimum of 12,000 Euro is usually required during the admission application period.
Admission requirement for study in Norway
For undergraduate study, an applicant should proof that he/she has completed a secondary education. A school leaving certificate showing grades and subjects will be required. In addition, applicants from non-English speaking countries will proof their proficiency in the use of the language. The recognized and accepted test bodies are TOELF and IELTS.
For Postgraduate study, a good bachelor’s or master’s degree result with transcripts showing grades is usually required. Applicants will also need to present a nicely written motivation letter/statement of purpose.
Students wishing to study in Norway should submit their application to a Norwegian Foreign Mission. The application must be submitted in person. Applications sent by mail or email will not be considered. In some cases the applicant may expect to be called in for an interview.
The visa processing fee is NOK 1 100 (approx. USD 180) for each application made from abroad payable to the Norwegian Foreign Mission. Due to exchange rates and local administrative conditions this fee may vary. However, you will need to check with the Norwegian Foreign Mission for exact fee prior to submission of your visa application.
Application times and deadlines
There’s only one admission period for most of the study programs. You will need to Submit your application before 1st March for studies beginning in the fall semester (September), if you are an international student. But Nordic student can submit their application till 15th April.
