The 2015/2016 Bilateral Educational Agreement (BEA) overseas scholarships are been offered by the Federal government of Nigeria, through the Federal Ministry of Education, through the Federal Scholarship Board to the Nigerian undergraduate, masters and doctoral students.
ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIPS
The scholarships are offered to Nigerian youths who are eligible after due process has been done by development partners who have signed a bilateral educational agreement with Nigeria. Nigeria also offers similar awards to Nationals of the bilateral educational agreement countries Romania, Cuba and China.
Therefore the Minister of Education is offering eligible Nigerians to take part in the 2015/2016 nomination interview for the bilateral educational agreement scholarships which will take place and be available in the following countries
Japan, Egypt, Tunisia, Ukraine, Serbia, Russia, Cuba, Morocco, Algeria, Romania, Hungary and Macedonia.
China, South Korea, Turkey, Russia, Japan among others
The duration of the scholarship depends on the course of study and country chosen but can last between 4-9 years.
The scholarship has the following benefits
Countries taking part in this agreement take care of school fees and accommodation
The government of Nigeria takes care of the following
$200 for health care
$250 for warm clothing
$500 given annually to medical students only
$1000 given for postgraduate research yearly where necessary
100,000 Naira given to postgraduate students where necessary
60,000 Naira for undergraduate students where necessary
FIELD OF STUDY
UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES: geology, medicine, engineering, maths, sciences, agriculture, sports, languages, environmental sciences, law, social sciences among others
POSTGRADUATE STUDIES: All courses
Five distinctions (A and B) in WAEC or NECO, including English and maths
Certificates should not be more than two years old
Should not be more than 22 and less than 18 years old when accepting the award
Should have second class upper
Knowledge of participating country
Should have done NYSC
Should not be more than 35 for masters and 4 for PhD
Note: only Nigerian students are eligible
